Monett, MO : Purdy man hurt in wreck north of Monett on Saturday, March 18, 2017

A Purdy man was injured Saturday in a wreck at 7:02 a.m. on Farm Road 1070, one mile north of Monett.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Omar Cortez, 26, of Purdy, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a fence, overturned and ejected the driver.

Cortez suffered serious injuries and was flown by LifeFlight to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

He was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
