Hesperia,CA : 21-year-old killed in rollover crash on July, Thursday 27th 2017

A 21-year-old man was killed in a rollover crash near a local elementary school here Thursday evening, authorities said.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials identified Hesperia resident Vince Muldoon as the man who was killed in the crash, which was reported at 7:56 p.m.

Excessive speed is being considered as a factor in the crash, which occurred on Third Avenue just north of Sultana Avenue, close to Mesa Grande Elementary School, according to authorities.

Hesperia Sheriff’s Station Sgt. Doug Hubbard said a 1996 Honda Accord only occupied by its driver was involved in the crash. The man was headed north on Third Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle just north of the intersection with Sultana Avenue.

“Multiple witnesses said the driver was headed north at a high rate of speed,” Hubbard said.

The driver was unable to regain control of the vehicle, Hubbard said, and it swerved onto the dirt shoulder where it hit a fire hydrant just north of the intersection. This caused the Honda to overturn several times until the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and suffered major injuries, authorities said.
