Lake Wales, FL : 2-year-old boy struck, killed on trick-or-treat outing on Friday night in Lake Wales, October 31, 2014

A two-year-old boy on a trick-or-treat outing with his family was struck and killed by a bus Friday night in Lake Wales. The incident occurred at approximately 7:25 pm near the intersection of US Highway 27 and 1st Ave. North. According to a Polk County Sheriff's Office report the unidentified child had gotten out of his stroller and wandered into the street. The little boy was hit by a bus carrying citrus workers that was traveling north on US 27. The northbound lanes of the roadway were shut down for several hours as investigators with PCSO's traffic homicide unit collected evidence and spoke to witnesses.
