Boulder Canyon, CO : Two drivers avoid serious injuries in Boulder Canyon head-on collision on Thursday, 17th September, 2020

wo drivers avoided serious injuries Thursday in a head-on collision that forced officials to temporarily close a portion of Boulder Canyon Drive, or Colo. 119, near Nederland.

The crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. Thursday at mile post 31, according to Master Trooper Gary Cutler of the Colorado State Patrol. Cutler said Colo. 119 between Castle Rock and Hurricane Hill was closed, and drivers were advised to find another route.

The crash involved two cars, one driven by a 27-year-old man and the other driven by 51-year-old woman. Both drivers refused medical treatment, Cutler said. One car went off the road. Cutler did not have details about how far off the road the car traveled. He said that vehicle did not enter the nearby creek.

The road was reopened about 6:20 p.m.


In addition to Colorado State Patrol, the Boulder County Sheriff’s, the Nederland Police Department, Nederland Fire Department, Sugarloaf Fire Department and AMR responded to the crash. The cause is under investigation, Cutler said.
