Exeter,RI : West Greenwich woman killed in Exeter crash on June, Monday 12th 2017
A 41-year-old West Greenwich woman died after crashing into a tree on Route 165 near Summit Road.
Authorities are not sure when the crash took place; they were notified by a passing truck driver who spotted the vehicle in the brush and called state police at 9:50 a.m. Monday, said state police Capt. Derek Borek.
Only one occupant, the driver, was found in the car. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities have not released her name pending family notification.
The woman was driving west on Route 165 when she lost control and struck the tree, said Lt. Jay Gibbs, in a press release. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been involved, according to the press release, and the woman was wearing a seat belt.
State police continue to investigate the crash; anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to call the Hope Valley barracks at (401) 444-1068.
