Five people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a car hit a garbage truck in Cranston Monday afternoon, according to the Cranston Fire Department.
The accident occurred at about 3:20 p.m. on Pontiac Avenue near the intersection with East Street. It appears that the car rear-ended the garbage truck before veering off the road, said Deputy Chief Paul Casey who is also the fire department’s EMS director.
Three adults and two children were taken to the hospital as a precaution, Casey said.
