Irving, TX : 40-year-old Christina Reed killed and one man injured in car crash with truck on State Highway 114 in Dallas County on Thursday, January 21, 2016

An Irving woman died and a man was seriously injured in a three-car crash that shut down a busy highway during the morning rush hour Thursday.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. on State Highway 114 when a woman driving east clipped a car, drove into the median ditch and went airborne, crashing into a westbound pickup, said Officer James McLellan, a police spokesman.

The woman, identified as 40-year-old Christina Reed, was ejected from her overturned SUV and died at the scene, near O’Connor Road just west of the State Highway 183 intersection.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital with a serious head injury but was expected to survive, McLellan said.

Police closed the westbound lanes of Highway 114 for more than three hours to investigate the crash. McLellan said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
