KNOXVILLE, TN : KPD officer injured in crash with tractor-trailer on Sunday, 18th September 2016

A Knoxville Police Department officer suffered minor injuries when a tractor-trailer struck his patrol cruiser, authorities said.

The collision was reported shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday on Rutledge Pike at Loves Creek Road, according to a KPD news release.

The truck's driver did not see the cruiser in the lane next to him as he attempted to change lanes, striking the patrol car.

The officer, whose name was not released, was treated and released at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The truck driver was not hurt. He was cited for careless driving.
