Thibodaux,LA : Lawsuit filed over fatal Leeville Bridge crash on June, Wednesday 7th 2017
The son and daughters of a Harvey man killed in a crash on the Leeville Bridge are suing the other driver, who police say was intoxicated.
Kenneth Ancar Jr., Krystal Ancar and Keina Tompkins filed a lawsuit in state District Court in Thibodaux against Brandon Bonvillain, Willie Bonvillain Jr., Josephine Bonvillain, Houma-based W.B. Trucking Co. and Texas-based QEO Insurance Group.
Brandon Bonvillain, 27, of Houma, was driving south on the bridge in a 1985 Volvo tractor-trailer when he crossed the centerline and hit a northbound 1998 Acura Integra head-on, according to State Police. The crash, which occurred about 6:40 a.m., killed Kenneth Ancar Sr., 69, of Harvey.
State Police said Brandon Bonvillain tried to run, but a Lafourche sheriff’s deputy apprehended him. He and the victim were both wearing seat belts.
Brandon Bonvillain was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide, hit-and-run driving involving a fatality and driving left of center. He remained in the Lafourche Parish jail today.
Trooper First Class Jesse LaGrange said Brandon Bonvillain was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. Specifics weren’t available.
The plaintiffs are suing for unspecified damages, including funeral expenses and lost wages.
