YAKIMA, WA : Driver crashes U-Haul truck into awning on April, Sunday 30th 2017
The Red Lion Hotel will need to replace one of its awnings after the driver of U-Haul moving truck crashed into it Sunday morning.
Around 11:20 a.m., the driver, who also was transporting a Toyota RAV4, did not see the 8-foot clearance sign and the top of the truck hit the wood awning.
The Yakima Fire Department responded to the crash.
The damage was mainly on the facade of the hotel at 607 E. Yakima Ave., but Maria Nunez, the hotel’s operations manager, expected it would take some time to replace the awning. It was unclear who would cover the replacement cost.
“This is going to be a big project,” she said.
