Rancho Mirage, CA: Fatal Rancho Mirage BMW street race hearing continues on Friday, July 17th 2015

Witnesses testified in court Friday that two defendants drove the BMWs involved in an alleged street race that ended with a fatal collision two years ago in Rancho Mirage.But the fact each witness wasn’t far from the BMWs and could see the drivers could affect the street racing accusations, a defense attorney said.“I see it as they kept up with them the whole time and there was no speeding,” said Stephanie Arrache, who’s representing defendant Scott Bahls of Palm Springs.He and co-defendant Wade Wheeler of Rancho Mirage appeared in Riverside County Superior court for a preliminary hearing related to the fatal crash on June 18, 2013. They’re accused of racing east on Highway 111 before Wheeler struck a westbound Ford Focus as it turned south onto Dune View Road.
