Kissimmee, FL : Elderly man dead after truck sinks in retention pond on Saturday morning, January 9, 2016

An elderly man died after he drove his truck into a retention pond, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened Saturday morning at a small retention pond near the intersection of Neptune Road and Meadow Spring Court.

Troopers say a truck driven by 82-year-old Jack Bussard drifted off the road onto the shoulder of the road. It traveled down a grassy embankment before ending up in the retention pond.

The truck filled with water and became submerged, according to the FHP report.

Bussard was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation has been launched to determine why the man’s truck went into the water.
