Jacksonville, TX : Two men die in fatal FM 747 wreck on Friday, October 8, 2017
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a crash just before 8 a.m. Friday on FM-747, approximately 5 miles east of Jacksonville.
A 2000 Nissan Frontier, operated by Jesus Mendoza, was traveling west on FM-747 at an unsafe speed, when it entered a curve causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. According to a press release, the vehicle re-entered the roadway and went into a side skid. The vehicle then left the roadway again to the south. After going down a hill, the vehicle then struck several trees with its roof, coming to rest on the passenger side.
Jesus Mendoza, 25, of Austin was pronounced dead on the scene by JP Phillip Grimes.
A passenger, Jose Amaya, 27, of Houston was pronounced dead on scene by JP Phillip Grimes.
