Ponkonkoma, NY : Emergency responder and another driver injured when their vehicles collided on Long Island on Sunday, February 28, 2016

An emergency responder and the driver of a sedan were injured when their vehicles collided on Long Island.

Newsday reports that it happened on Express Drive North in Ronkonkoma at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officials say the emergency responder vehicle was an SUV belonging to the Lakeland Fire Department.

Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries. They were taken to a local hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
