Baton Rouge, LA : Motorcyclist dies in Raceland crash on Sunday, January 15th 2017

A man died near Raceland when his motorcycle crashed early Sunday morning (Jan. 15), state police said. Jacob Kraus of Houma, 37, was driving north on Louisiana Route 1 shortly before 3 a.m., riding a 2013 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic, spokesman Jesse LaGrange said. While rounding a right curve, Kraus crossed the center line and drove off the road to the left, where he hit a utility pole. The Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police do not know why Kraus drove off the road nor whether he was intoxicated. Standard toxicology tests are underway. He was wearing a helmet, LaGrange said.
