Dodgeville, WI : Two people injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 80 in Iowa County on Monday, February 22, 2016

Alcohol played a role in a two-vehicle Iowa County crash that sent both drivers to the hospital, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. Monday on Highway 80 in the town of Eden, between the villages of Highland and Cobb, the Iowa County Sheriff's Office said.

A preliminary investigation showed Anthony Brabender, 45, Dodgeville, was westbound on Highway BH when he didn't stop at the stop sign at Highway 80, hitting a northbound car driven by Theresa Werren, 51, Muscoda.

Both vehicles went off the road, with Brabender's pickup truck coming to rest against a power pole.

The two drivers were taken to Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville. Both were wearing seat belts.

"Alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash," the Sheriff's Office report said.

Court records show Brabender has had at least five drunken driving offenses in the past.
