Northern Liberties, PA : Bicyclist struck and killed on his 38th birthday in Northern Liberties on May 10th 2014

Police say a bicyclist was struck and killed on his 38th birthday in Northern Liberties' Philadelphia section early Saturday morning.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Girard Avenue near 2nd Street.

Police tell Action News that the man was riding on a bicycle when he was hit by an Audi traveling east.

The impact of the crash hurled the victim across the street.

Medics rushed the man to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Officials say the driver stopped and called police.

The victim's name has not been released.
