Columbus, OH : Newark man killed in crash along Route 40 on Monday, 2nd April 2018

A Newark man was killed when he drove his pickup truck off Route 40 and into a utility pole Monday afternoon, the State Highway Patrol said.

David A. Taylor, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 1 p.m. crash on Route 40 east of Jacksontown, the patrol said.

A number of witnesses told the patrol that they saw Taylor’s 2007 Ford Ranger weaving across both lanes of travel before going off the westbound lane of Route 40 and slamming into a utility pole. Taylor was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
