One person is dead Saturday after a police chase ended with a head-on collision in Tuscaloosa.
According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a man driving a red and white Chevy Blazer in the 1500 block of 29th Avenue at around 3:18 p.m. The driver refused to stop and a brief pursuit was initiated by the officer until the Blazer collided with a pickup truck in the intersection of Stillman Boulevard and Fosters Ferry Road.
The suspect in the Blazer, Shadoe Steven McFarland, 25, died at the scene as a result of his injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to DCH with injuries. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
The officer involved in the pursuit was not injured and his vehicle did not sustain any damage. The Alabama Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
