Phelps County, MO : Fourteen-year-old dies in RTV crash in Phelps County on Sunday, 15th December, 2019
The crash occurred as a 13-year-old female was driving a 2009 Kubota RTV, made a left turn on Grant Road, started to skid and overturned ejecting the driver and two occupants — a 13-year-old female and 14-year-old female, the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report states.
When the vehicle overturned, it landed on top of the 14-year-old who was pinned underneath, the report states.
The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District, along with Phelps Health EMS were dispatched to the crash and were notified that the 14-year-old was no longer under the vehicle, the fire protection district said.
When Doolittle firefighters arrived, they found the 14-year-old a half-mile off the road in a field and determined she was in traumatic cardiac arrest. Basic life support resuscitative efforts were initiated by fire personnel, who continued to assist EMS with patient care while the 14-year-old was taken to Phelps Health, the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District said in a release today.
The 14-year-old was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m. at Phelps Health. The two 13-year-old females weren’t injured, the crash report states.
“Unfortunately with the excellent care given by our personnel, Phelps Health EMS, Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, and Doolittle Police Department, the patient was unable to be revived and was pronounced deceased at Phelps Health,” the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased through this extremely hard time.”
