Delta, OH : Man killed in tractor-trailer rig collision on Wendesday, February 22, 2017

A Fayette man was killed in a two crash involving two tractor-trailer rigs on U.S. 20 at State Rt. 109, authorities said.

Naylen K. Fonseca, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Bowling Green post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. The crash was reported before 5 a.m.

A 2016 International Harvester tractor-trailer, driven by Roberto D. Hernandez Jr., 30, of San Jacinto, Calif., was traveling northbound on State Rt. 109 and attempted to turn left onto U.S. 20, the patrol reported.

The Hernandez failed to yield at the intersection, and was struck by a 1995 Dodge tractor-trailer, driven by Mr. Fonseca, according the patrol. Fonseca was heading eastbound on U.S. 20.

Fonseca was not wearing his seat belt, troopers said. He was transported by ambulance to the Fulton County Health Center.

Hernandez was wearing his seat belt and was not injured, according to the patrol.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.

The road was closed in both directions for nearly five hours.

Meanwhile, one person was killed today in a rollover crash on the I-75 northbound ramp to I-475 westbound in Toledo.

Toledo police said passenger Shaunta Gaston, 30, of Toledo, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash about 6:43 a.m.

The vehicle, driven by Phillip Pope, 30, of Garfield Heights, lost control and drove off the left side of the road, police said. Pope was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
