Irvine, KY : Man killed in single-car accident on U.S. 52, Irvine Road on Sunday, 26th April, 2020

Early Sunday morning around 3 a.m., a singular vehicle incident occurred on U.S. 52, Irvine Road, killing 28-year-old Andrew Travis of Richmond.

According to Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison, Travis was driving when he lost control of his vehicle, veering off the right side of the road near a Dollar General store.

Cornelison said Travis came back into the roadway facing the ordinance. Madison County EMS was called and transported Travis to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner says at this time, he suspected there was no alcohol or drugs involved in the accident. However, with any fatal car collision, drug screenings are ordered as part of a normal procedure.

He said the results would be produced in around two to three weeks.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident, as well, and the Richmond Police Department, Waco Fire Department and Madison County Fire Department assisted at the scene, according to a news release.
