A 78-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital on Wednesday with injuries after a two-car crash just south of Topeka, an official with the Kansas Highway Patrol said at the scene.
The crash was reported about 8:05 a.m. Wednesday. The accident, involving a pair of Chevrolet Impalas, occurred on the northbound off-ramp from US-75 highway to S.W. Topeka Blvd. in the 8900 block.
The crash five miles south of Topeka happened when a white Impala was merging off of US-75 onto northbound S.W. Topeka when it was rear-ended by a silver Impala.
Darren A. Cashier, 49, of Carbondale, was driving the silver car that rear-ended the white car driven by Alma L. Sexton, 78, of Paola.
Sexton was taken to a local hospital by American Medical Response ambulance with what were thought to be minor injuries including a possible head laceration.
Cashier was uninjured, KHP officials said.
Neither car had major damage, and the incident is still being investigated.
The silver Impala came to a stop facing north on the off-ramp, while the white Impala drove a short distance and ended up facing south on Topeka Blvd. on the shoulder.
