Madison, WI : Two people were injured when the van they were traveling in crashed into the back of a tractor on April, Wednesday 26th 2017
Two people were injured when the van they were traveling in crashed into the back of a tractor Wednesday afternoon on Highway 18-151 west of Verona, authorities say.
The crash happened around 4:20 p.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 18-151 near Spring Rose Road in the town of Verona, the 911 center said.
A woman who was a passenger in the van was the most seriously injured and was taken to a hospital by helicopter, said Sgt. Ira Simpson of the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
A man who was driving the van was also taken to a hospital in an ambulance, Simpson said. Authorities believe the driver may have been impaired, Simpson said.
The only injury the farmer, who was legally driving the tractor with its warning lights on, had was a scratch on his left hand, Simpson said.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said all lanes were closed on the side of the highway where the crash happened, but authorities hoped it would be open by 9 p.m. One westbound lane of the highway was temporarily closed.
