Montgomery County, VA : North Carolina woman dies in tractor trailer crash on I-81 in Montgomery County on Thursday, March 5, 2015

Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a North Carolina woman Thursday along Interstate-81 in Montgomery County.
The crash occurred at 6:24 p.m. Thursday, March 5 on I-81 near the 116 mile marker. Troopers say a 1998 Ford Ranger was attempting to merge into the northbound I-81 lanes when it lost control on the slick road conditions.

The Ranger slid into the lanes and collided with a northbound tractor-trailer. State police say the two vehicles came to rest against the guardrail off the left side of the interstate.

The driver of the Ranger, identified as Victoria J. Fewell, 60, of Charlotte, N.C., died at the scene.

State police say the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash. This incident remains under investigation.
