Rapid City, SD : Child killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 90 in Pennington County on Friday morning, December 11, 2015

A child was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash this morning near the westbound on-ramp of Interstate 90 at Exit 60, the East North Street exit.

Tony Mangan, public information officer with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, said the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m. A police statement released this afternoon said the name, gender and age of the child would not be released until family members were notified.

Three other children passengers and the adult driver of the vehicle were taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital. Their conditions were not revealed this afternoon.

At the scene of the crash, several emergency personnel were working where a silver 2002 Windstar van that was on its roof in a patch of grass between the interstate and the on-ramp.

The right westbound lane of Interstate 90 between mile markers 59 to 61 was closed for several hours while the South Dakota Highway Patrol and other state and local agencies investigated the crash.
