STEUBENVILLE, OH : Weirton man 21 killed in motorcycle crash on Tuesday, August 8, 2017

A portion of U.S. 22 in Jefferson County was closed Monday following a fatal motorcycle accident just after 4 p.m. near the Route 7 interchange.

WTRF Channel 7 in Wheeling, W.Va., identified the victim as 21-year-old Anthony J. Bernabei of nearby Weirton, W.Va. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 22 for nearly two hours.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatcher reported the eastbound lanes were re-opened to traffic at 6:09 p.m.

A press release issued by the highway patrol said a motorcycle driven by Bernabei left the roadway and struck a guardrail at approximately 4:17 p.m.
