Castle Rock, CO : Driver in Castle Rock dies after crash with school bus at the intersection of Fifth and Perry streets on Friday, 7th December 2018

A driver died Friday after a crash with a school bus in Castle Rock, police said.

The crash happened about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Fifth and Perry streets, police said.

The driver of a small SUV had to be extricated from the wreckage. She was taken to a hospital, where she died, according to a news release.

There were five passengers, ages 14 to 17, and a driver on the Colorado Early College school bus. No one on the bus was injured. The bus was headed to a Parker campus.

“This is a somber day for our CEC community. We are thankful that our students and bus driver are safe but are heartbroken over the loss of this precious life,” said Sandi Brown, chief executive administrator of the Colorado Early Colleges Network, in an email. “On behalf of everyone at Colorado Early Colleges, our prayers and thoughts go out to the family and those impacted by this tragedy.
