Springfield, IL : 53-year-old man dead after one-car crash on I-55 south of Springfield on Sunday night, June 26, 2016

A 53-year-old Springfield man was pronounced dead Sunday night after the car he was driving went off Interstate 55 south of Springfield and stopped in a line of trees.

The man's name wasn't immediately released.

Illinois State Police reported the driver was headed north on I-55 just north of the Glenarm exit around 8 p.m. The car went off the right side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
