A rear-end crash in Salisbury killed two people and sent two more to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
A Honda Accord with four passengers was stopped on South Jake Alexander Boulevard at about 4 p.m. when a Chevrolet pickup truck carrying only the driver hit the Honda from behind, police said in a news release.
The two passengers who died were in the back seat of the Honda. The driver of the Honda was taken to Novant Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury. A medical helicopter flew the person in the front passenger seat to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and is in critical condition.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
There was no indication of impairment or excessive speed involved, police said.
The names of the passengers are not being released at this time pending the notification of their families.
