Ocklawaha, FL : Male driver died in a single-vehicle crash near Southeast 103rd Place Road early Tuesday morning, December 22, 2015
An Ocklawaha man died in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning when the car he was driving went off the road and struck some trees.
Ryan Colby Bencivenga, 30, was killed in the crash on Southeast County Road 464C near Southeast 103rd Place Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP troopers on scene said the 2008 Chevy Cobalt appeared to be speeding north on CR 464C when Bencivenga lost control of the car. It crossed the center line and spun clockwise as it went off the road and onto the east grassy shoulder.
The car slammed into a clump of trees. The driver's side of the car came to rest against a large tree.
Bencivenga was pronounced dead on scene by a Marion County Fire Rescue paramedic, according to FHP. Firefighters had to cut away tree limbs and extricate the driver's body from the car.
Troopers said it appeared Bencivenga was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m., troopers said. Motorists saw the car against the tree line and called 911.
