Hutchinson, KS : Wrong-way crash on I-135 injures Emporia woman on Friday September 16 2016
A 38-year-old woman was hurt overnight when she went the wrong way on I-135 in McPherson County and hit the trailer of an oncoming truck.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Heather M. St. Pierre, Emporia, was driving a 2011 Chevy Malibu south in the northbound right-hand lane of the interstate at about 3 a.m. Friday.
Meanwhile, Jesse R. Luna, 55, of Hereford, Texas, was driving a 2015 Volvo north on the interstate and tried to make an evasive maneuver to get out of the way of the oncoming Chevy.
The Chevy struck the trailer of the truck and came to rest in the east ditch. The truck came to rest on the shoulder.
St. Pierre was taken to Wesley Medical Center with injuries. It was not known whether she was wearing a seat belt. Luna was not injured and was wearing a seat belt.
