Newnan, GA: Motorcyclist Fatally Injured On West Hwy. 16 on Tuesday, July 14th 2015

A man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday night after he was ejected from his motorcycle.About 8:45 p.m., Samuel Nicolas Schaffer, 52, of Newnan, was riding his motorcycle westbound on West Highway 16 just east of Witcher Road when he traveled off the north shoulder of the road, according to Sgt. First Class Mike Adcock with the Georgia State Patrol. The man then drove over a driveway, hit a culvert and was ejected from his motorcycle. Schaffer was fatally injured when he struck the ground.According to Adcock, investigating troopers do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the accident, and Schaffer was navigating a slight left curve when he rode off the highway. Troopers suspect Schaffer may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
