Folsom, CA : Orangevale man killed in snowboarding accident on Thursday, December, 7th 2017
A 23-year-old male was pronounced dead after a snowboarding accident in South Lake Tahoe Thursday, Dec. 7.
At 1:15 p.m. David Karlin, of Orangevale, crashed into a fence after losing control snowboarding at high speed down the intermediate Lower Snowshoe Trail at Sierra-at-Tahoe, officials said. Witnesses said Karlin was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
First aid was provided by an acquaintance as well as Ski Patrol. According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, paramedics were unable to revive Karlin, and he was pronounced dead.
Sierra-at-Tahoe released the following statement: "Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort management and staff would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the snowboarder. Everyone at the resort understands what a personal tragedy this is for the family and has and will continue to offer support in any way possible."
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said the cause of death is pending and next of kin have been notified.
