Penrose, CO : 2 dead after head-on crash outside Penrose early Monday, April 10, 2017

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a head-on crash that resulted in the death of two men on Colorado 115 9 miles north of here early Monday.

According to Trooper Art Gumke, the men, ages 33 and 57, have not been identified pending notification of relatives. The crash occurred at 3:45 a.m. Monday when a 1992 Nissan Sentra driven by the 33-year-old male crossed from the southbound lane into the northbound lane and collided head on with a 2007 Chevy TrailBlazer that was traveling northbound. After impact, the Nissan continued southbound, rotating counter clockwise, ejecting the driver before stopping in the southbound lane of traffic.

The Chevy, driven by the 57-year-old male continued northbound, rotated counter-clockwise and traveled off the east side of the road coming to stop on its wheels, Gumke said.

The younger male was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The older male was wearing a seatbelt.
