KIRKWOOD, IL : An Iowa woman was injured when her Jeep collided on Tuesday, December, 19th 2017
An Iowa woman was injured Tuesday morning when her Jeep collided with a semitrailer on U.S. 34 near here.
Illinois State Police said Katie Torrance, 26, Burlington, Iowa, suffered non-life threatening injuries when her Grand Cherokee collided with a semi driven by Christopher Wetzel, 46, Alexis, at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, about .4 mile east of 20th Street.
Torrence was taken to OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.
According to a state police news release, Torrance was westbound when she changed lanes to pass Craig Zoellner, 48, of Van Buren, Indiana, who was driving a semitrailer. Once Torrance passed Zoellner, she failed to return to her original lane and collided with Wetzel’s eastbound semitrailer.
After the collision, Torrance’s vehicle ended up in a ditch upside-down. Zoellner’s truck was damaged by flying debris.
Torrance was ticketed for improper lane usage.
Assisting at the scene of the accident were Central Warren Fire Department, Galesburg Area Ambulance Service, Kirkwood Fire Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, and Illinois Department of Transportation. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation.
