One person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Wilson County Thursday night.

It happened in the eastbound lanes of I-40 just past the Old Hickory Boulevard exit around 9 p.m.

Mt. Juliet police told News 2 an SUV ran off the roadway, traveled into the treeline and the driver was trapped inside the vehicle.

The fire department was called to extricate the victim, who was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

No additional information was immediately released.
