Baton Rouge, LA : Zachary man dies in single-vehicle accident on La. 37 in the Pride area on Tuesday, April 12, 2016

A 33-year-old Zachary man died Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on La. 37 in the Pride area, according to a State Police report.

Troopers were called to the scene shortly after 4 p.m. on La. 37 south of La. 63 in East Baton Rouge Parish, Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee said in a news release. The crash took the life of Aramis Pepper.

Pepper was traveling north on La. 37 in a 2012 Nissan Juke. For unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane, ran off the roadway and struck a tree, Lee said.

Pepper, who was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, Lee said, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Pepper for analysis, Lee said.
