Irondequoit, NY: Woman in Route 104 crash dies on Friday, July 17th 2015

A one-vehicle accident on Route 104 left a woman dead and her husband seriously injured Friday afternoon.Christine Pogoda, 71, was pronounced dead after being rushed to Rochester General Hospital, according to New York State Police. John Pogoda, 74, was driving the van west on Route 104, state police said, when the vehicle struck a guard rail off the right shoulder and overturned shortly before 2 p.m.State Police shut down a section of the highway as firefighters removed the couple from the van.The accident occurred where Route 104 runs below Portland Ave. State Police spokesman Mark O’Donnell said police were called shortly after 1:50 p.m.John Pogoda also was transported to Rochester General Hospital with serious injuries.
