Las Vegas, NV : Pedestrian, 50, hit and killed by reported stolen car on Boulder Highway on Wednesday night, February 24, 2016
A 50-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car, which had been reported stolen, as she tried to cross Boulder Highway on Wednesday night, according to Henderson Police.
The car, which didn’t stop at the scene, was found several hours later abandoned by the driver, police said.
The woman was hit about 11 p.m. by a silver Mercedes-Benz CLK on the northbound Boulder Highway near West Warm Springs Road, police said. The car had been reported stolen, police said.
The Henderson woman, who was not in a marked crosswalk, died at the scene. Her name has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
A preliminary investigation indicates that speed appears to have been a factor in the incident, police said.
Boulder Highway was closed for about four and half hours while police investigated.
The woman’s death was the first traffic-related pedestrian fatality in Henderson this year.
