TAMPA, FL : Deputy chase ends in crash, several arrests on Friday, 8th February 2019

Hillsborough deputies were led on a wild chase early Friday morning following a string of robberies spanning multiple counties in Tampa Bay.

The officers began following a group of suspected cigarette thieves after a robbery at a gas station in Manatee County this morning.

At least four people were arrested after the chase ended in a crash on Apollo Beach Blvd. Deputies are working to link the suspects to a string of robberies that took place early Friday morning in multiple jurisdictions throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Detectives say as many as 10 people, armed with trash bags, reportedly rushed into a 7 Eleven gas station on 62nd Street N in Largo. The thieves loaded up with about 90 cartons of cigarettes and took off, authorities said. It's unclear if the suspects involved in the chase were arrested in connection with the incident.

Deputies are still searching for a white Toyota Camry they believe to be involved in at least one of the robberies.
