Brighton, NY : Franklin County Man Dies Following Crash on Route 60 in Brighton on early Friday morning, October 10, 2014
State Police say a driver was killed when his car went off road and struck a utility pole in Brighton.
On October 10 at about 12:45 a.m., State Police responded to a one-car crash on County Route 60 in the town of Brighton.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1991 Honda Civic operated by 21-year-old Mark A. Calderone, of Paul Smiths, New York, was traveling southbound on County Route 60 when his vehicle exited the roadway off the west shoulder. Calderone's vehicle struck a National Grid utility pole, causing extensive damage to the driver's side of the vehicle.
Calderone was pronounced deceased by Franklin County Coroner Ronald Keough at 3 a.m. and his body was removed to the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. An autopsy will be performed at a later date and time.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
