Roanoke, VA : Man killed after motorcycle wreck near Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport Wednesday, March 29, 2017
A man was killed Wednesday after a motorcycle wrecked near the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, according to the Roanoke Police Department’s Twitter account and an airport official.
The wreck happened in the 5300 block of Aviation Drive at 5:57 p.m., according to a tweet posted by the department.
Only one vehicle was involved. Police have not identified the victim.
Airport spokesman Brad Boettcher said the crash happened on airport property, near a left bend in the road.
He said Roanoke police were still working on reconstructing the wreck Wednesday night. The cause of the wreck was not clear.
“Our condolences go out to the family,” Boettcher said. “This is a tragic accident.”
