SCOTT CITY, KS : Five injured in Scott City crash on Sunday, December, 10th 2017
Five people, including four children, were injured when a vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign on U.S. 83 in Scott City.
The crash occurred just after 5 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. 83 and Alice Street.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1994 Chevy Suburban driven by Ellsworth L. Burch, 81, of Marienthal, was southbound on U.S. 83 when Burch activated his right turn signal to merge into the right lane.
A 2004 Ford F150 pickup driven by Gabriel Aaron Bowers, 15, of Healy, had stopped at the stop sign on Alice Street, but then pulled out in front of the Suburban, colliding with the driver’s side of that vehicle.
Neither driver was injured, though Burch was transported to Scott County Hospital along with all the passengers in his vehicle, the patrol report indicated.
The injured passengers, all from Marienthal and all taken to Scott County Hospital, included: Mildred Evelyn Burch, 73; Sophia Hermosillo, 14; Sadie Hermosillo, 12; Abbie Hermosillo, 11; and Addie Allaman, 9.
All seven people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
