Moorpark, CA : Two people injured in head-on crash in Moorpark on Thursday, February 12, 2015

Two people suffered major injuries Thursday after a head-on crash in Moorpark, officials said.

The crash occurred about 12:35 p.m. near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Balcom Canyon Road.

The crash involved a truck carrying produce and a sedan, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

Preliminary information indicated the driver of a Mercedes was heading west when she veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the driver of the truck, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Both drivers were taken to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.

The produce spilled onto the road, and both vehicles were blocking lanes. Both sides of the highway were closed between Somis and Moorpark during the cleanup. It was reopened by 2:45 p.m.
