Waukesha, WI : Five Waukesha South students injured after crash Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 2016

Five Waukesha South High School students are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after a crash Wednesday afternoon.

Waukesha police said the driver of the car struck a tree in the 900 block of East Roberta Avenue.

The five students, all boys, were taken to area hospitals, one by Flight for Life.

WISN 12 News Nick Bohr went to the scene of the crash. There, he saw the damaged car - its front end smashed in and its side ripped open by the collision's force.

Witnesses said several of the car's occupants were able to stagger from the vehicle, but others were too injured to get out.

"I was in the living room having a sandwich and there was this God-awful thump," said Russ Willis. "And I got up, walked to the front and I saw the kids trying to get out of the car."

Sarina Vigo is a friend of the victims. She noticed the crash and recognized the boys.

"I came down this street, down Roberta, going to Dairy Queen like they were going, and I looked at the pieces and I looked at the car and I was like I know who that is," said Vigo.

Police have not yet released any other details on the crash.
