Walnut Creek, CA : Woman accidentally drives car into water on Monday, November 14th 2016
Though it did not rain, it was still a wet Veterans Day for two young adults in Benicia.
A 26-year-old man was taking pictures of his 21-year-old girlfriend who was on the hood of his 2016 Dodge Charger wearing a red, white and blue outfit at the waterfront.
Their intent was to share the photographs on social media for Veterans Day, but this went awry when the couple decided to reposition the vehicle for more pictures.
The girlfriend was asked to back up the car to the 9th Street boat ramp, but accidently kept the car in drive.
When she hit the gas pedal, she lurched forward and plunged the Charger down the boat ramp and into the water.
The woman was unable to get out of the car, so her boyfriend jumped in and pulled her out as the Charger was sinking.
Both Benicia Police Department and Benicia Fire Department responded to the scene.
After the couple was safe, the car was towed out of the water.
No one was injured during the incident.
