Rupert, VT :Man found dead after Vt. bike accident on Saturday, July 11th 2015

A 51-year-old man was found dead on Route 315 in Rupert, Vt., Saturday afternoon after a bicycle accident, according to a statement from Vermont State Police.Michael Munson, of Peru, Vt., was reportedly riding his bike down a hill in the area of Derby Hill Road when he lost control.He was thrown from his bicycle and hit his head on the ground, suffering injuries to the back of his head, face, and left side.Munson was wearing a helmet, but it was dislodged by the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The bike’s front tire was blown out, but it was not clear if that precipitated the crash.An autopsy will take place at the chief medical examiner’s office in Burlington.The crash is under investigation.
