AUGUSTA — Police charged a Vassalboro woman with leaving scene of an accident following a single-vehicle crash Monday on Cross Hill Road.

Melissa Ann Hunt, 27, was issued a summons by Augusta police on charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, operating while license suspended or revoked, and violating a condition of release, according to police records.

Hunt, police allege, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck in the accident. However, she was not with the vehicle when police arrived at the scene. She was located soon afterward by an officer from the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, according to Lt. Christopher Read, of the Augusta police.

There were no passengers with Hunt.

The accident report hadn’t been completed as of Tuesday afternoon, so further details were unavailable.

Police records indicate there were no injuries in the accident, though Augusta Fire and Rescue workers went to the scene.

The accident was reported at 3:46 p.m.
