PEORIA, IL : Peoria issuses traffic collision alert on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2020

About 1.5 inches of snow fell late Wednesday and throughout Thursday, and more is on the way, forecasters say.

About 2 inches was forecast for Thursday night and into early Friday. Then, like on Thursday, it’ll take a break and start back up Friday night with possibly another 1.5 inches. In all, Peoria could wind up with about 5 inches of snow by the time the system moves out of the area.

Chuck Schaffer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lincoln, said after that, things should be drier as there is no precipitation in the forecast for most of Saturday and all of Sunday.

Then, while temperatures will remain at their normal mid-30s for this time of the year, there’s only a slight chance of snow or rain by midweek, he said.
